Overview¶
The message_table block is used to assign a size to a message where a message size was not defined at the time the message was initially transmitted (One way of providing this is to use the WsfMessage.SetSizeInBits or WsfMessage.SetSizeInBytes script methods). If a message size was not defined, the message_table will be consulted using the following algorithm. The first step for which a value is defined will be used: The process of determining the message size will use the first of the following which results in a defined size:
Use the entry from the matching ‘comm_type’ block with a matching ‘type’ and ‘subtype’.
Use the entry from the matching ‘comm_type’ block with a matching ‘type’
Use the ‘default’ entry from the matching ‘comm_type’ block.
Use the entry from the ‘default_comm_type’ block with a matching ‘type’ and ‘subtype’.
Use the entry from the ‘default_comm_type’ block with a matching ‘type’.
Use the ‘default’ entry from the ‘default_comm_type’ block.
Note
The message size is only assigned when first transmitted. It will not be changed if it is subsequently relayed.
